Our Sleeping Giant is Danny Gibbons.
Born in San Antonio, and spending time in California, New Jersey, Florida, and Austin, TX, Gibbons now calls Brattleboro, Vermont, home.
Starting out in San Antonio pop-punk outfit Foiled Again (with Austin Leonard Jones), then playing in the San Antonio/Austin based emo/power pop group Landon High, Gibbons later spent time touring with The Panic Division selling merch and later as a TM. In 2007, he began writing solo material focused on his teenage battle with cancer for what would be the first Our Sleeping Giant EP (2008's "Streetlights & Failures"). He wrote and recorded another EP, 2010's Hardest Year to Date, and the 2012 LP, Fragments from Former Lives, with the help of Jordan Williams, Daniel Proud, Gabe Velazquez, and Nick Garza.
In 2014, after a successfully funded Kickstarter, Gibbons traveled to the world famous Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, TX, to record "Vices" with engineer/producer Ross Ingram. He returned to the El Paso area in 2018 to record 2019’s "Inkwell".
"Inkwell" represented where Gibbons was in his life. It’s a more stripped down reflection of what matters most to him; his wife, his friends (past and present), and social issues.
Playing solo (or previously full band with members of The Cardinal Health, for which he also played bass), Gibbons writes heart felt stories set to melodic tunes that come from a deep & personal place. He hopes by sharing his stories & experiences through music to make connections and help others through their own personal struggles.
